The Chair

I am a Boston Terrier...

... who enjoys digging. I dig in the yard, in my bed, in my crate, on my brother, in the leaves under the oak tree, in my mom's bed, and on the chair.

The chair is quite the conundrum. Mom has worked hard to ensure that I do not destroy this beast. I am not sure why. At first, there were these large pillows the covered the bottom cushion, but after I discovered their weakness, she had to throw them out. Then, she got lots of little pillows of all sizes and colours. She put them in their place. I will have to admit, these pillows often impede my digging, as they are just so comfortable I am lulled into sleep.

But, eventually I will find the zipper on these cushions. I am quite skilled at the zipper. See, mom comes running if she hears a rip, but if I unzip quietly, I can have loads of fun before she discovers it...

The Rain

It should be noted that we do not like rain. There is nothing appealing about it, besides the mud and that is still there after the rain leaves! I do not understand why mom insists we go out in the rain. It is not nice.

Every morning, we go outside and I do my rounds, but when it rains, mom scoots us out so fast we don't have time to realise it's raining. If only we'd have enough time, we could hide somewhere so she can't make us go out!

She does give us snacks, but we don't want them once we go outside. Sometimes she even goes with us outside, but it doesn't help. We don't like the bath and we don't like the rain.

Sometimes mom goes out in the rain by herself! I don't know how she does it! It makes me nervous when she does... You never know what could happen!

Unfortunately, I have gotten to the worst part, mom makes us stay outside until we've done our business! It's shocking I know... Then when we come back in, it's like she expects to like her still! Chibs and I never talk to her... NEVER. Well, Chibs gives in early, but that's only because he always tries to get her to give him her breakfast, and her lunch, and her dinner, really, any food she has, he wants.

But I am the strong one... I NEVER give in... and I NEVER forget...

The Violin

My mom decided to start playing the violin again. It is a funny little thing. It has two pieces that mom has to hold by her face and then she moves her arm back and forth and presses parts of the violin to make sounds.

They are pretty sounds, but they are loud. And she doesn't just play one song. She plays lots of songs. Sometimes she plays the same song over and over: fast, slow, fast, fast, slooooooooowwwwww.

I like when she plays songs that go up and down. She plays them first. She plays them slowly, but gets faster and faster! It is exciting!

I have a secret.... I can sing! Charlie won't sing, the violin upsets his naps. I like to sing with mom, but I don't like to stand and walk in circles like her. I like to spread out on the chair and sing. I have a loud voice too. I disturb Charlie's naps too, but mostly because it is funny when he gets grumpy.

If I keep practicing my singing, maybe mom can play one of my songs! Maybe I can get good enough to go with her and sing with her! Below are the lyrics to my favourite song. I wrote it myself! Enjoy!

The Kong Wobble

Mom broke out a new toy the other day. While I was at day care, she showed Chibs how to work it, how to get it to respond. They apparently had a great time while I was at day care. Sure, I was with all my friends and the nice ladies who carry me around sometimes, but there was bonding that I wasn't present for! All on account of that new toy.

Chibs loooooves it! He pets it on the head, and it bows, and BAM food appears. He made best friends with it. Now, whenever he wants something to eat, he bops the new toy on the head and it appears! I tried bopping my bother on his head, but no food appeared. I tried bopping my mom on her head while she was sleeping, but she didn't give me food! I even tried bopping the water bowl! Sure, there was a bowl of food right next to me... but that's not the point.

The point is... I can have a best toy friend too. I just need to find one. A simple toy friend, not too big, not too small... not too loud, but squeaky is nice. No sudden movements. Until then, I will continue to steal my brother's food while he bops his new best friend.

Charlie

The Jump

Today, I mastered a feat and discovered a passion. It began innocently enough. I didn't want to go to sleep, so I jumped from our castle bed. I didn't want to sleep with my brother, so I jumped from my bed to mom's after she fell asleep. I didn't want to be in the kitchen, so I climbed the gate to freedom. But today... Today, I made my future.

I needed a test subject first, just to see how far I could take my new skill - MY MOTHER. She was reading an article at the table and I saw her pen sitting by her, perfect. I waited for the perfect moment. My brother, Charlie, approached for a snuggle. It was time...

I ran, I leapt, I landed... Squarely on my mother's lap and arm. I went for the pen.... she jumped. I fell. Turns out using living creatures as landing pads without telling them has its disadvantages... Ah well... next time.

Mark my words... Soon, I will jump and take ALL the snacks from the kitchen counter.
